Show Notes:
Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you were one of the best in the world at what you do? Well our guest today is Jordan Matyas and she plays the 8th position for Team USA's women's rugby team. She earned collegiate All-American honors in the 2012 - 2014 seasons while playing at her alma mater, BYU. She then was hired to play professionally for the San Diego Women's Premier League team, the San Diego Surfers, where she helped lead her team to a league championship and earned MVP accolades in the process. She made her Team USA Women's Rugby debut in the 2017 Japan Sevens Tournament and then a place on the roster of the 2017 WOmen's Rugby World Cup Team. Jordan returned to sevens for the 2018 World Cup and is looking forward to competing in the 2021 Olympic Games with Team USA's women's rugby team. On the show today we discuss:

  • Jordan's early life and the lessons she learned growing up from her parents that helped her succeed at such a high level later on in life. (4:19)
  • How Jordan decided to pursue rugby as her chosen sport and how rugby has enabled her to develop a sense of gratitude and acceptance of her body. (9:53)
  • A peek behind the curtain to see what life is like as a professional athlete and what it takes to compete, prepare, and play at a level that makes her one of the best in the world. (13:45)
  • Jordan's daily practices that she feels have fueled her success. (18:50)
  • What she feels has been her greatest successes on and off the rugby pitch and what she hopes to accomplish in the coming years. (25:32)
  • What it means to her to be a contender. (30:15)
